On Wednesday, March 6th, the CARCEIT International Collaborative Project (ICEPT) team, titled "Strengthening Regional Universities in Kazakhstan," presented their topic to the learning, teaching, and research communities, not only within the Nazarbayev University community but also to interested communities across Kazakhstan via Zoom.
The seminar was conducted by the Principal Investigator Ahmet Aypay, along with team members Alper Çalıkoğlu and Diana Kalemeneva. The presenters delivered a comprehensive introduction to their project, discussing the role of regional universities, trends, and approaches to their engagement with the global, national, and local communities. They also outlined their methodology and presented preliminary findings from their analysis of the strategic plans of 14 regional universities. Additionally, the team presented a systematic review of the regional universities' involvement with various stakeholders.
Discussions during the seminar focused on the importance and timing of the study, coinciding with Kazakhstan’s new initiatives towards regional universities. Throughout the session, the team elaborated on how their theoretical approaches aligned with the organizational identity, hierarchy, and rationality of the universities. The audience actively engaged by sharing their views and posing questions regarding how they perceived the project's contributions to understanding regional universities.
