CARCEIT is pleased to announce the successful delivery of the professional development course “Introduction to Qualitative Research Methods” for professors at the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University in Almaty from August 19 to September 13, 2024. The course was initiated by the Dean of the Graduate School of Education at Nazarbayev University, Dr. Aida Sagintayeva, and developed with the guidance of CARCEIT director, NU GSE Professor Naureen Durrani. It was facilitated by post-doctoral fellows Laura Ibrayeva, Assel Sharimova, and Assistant Professor Gulzhanat Gafu through a combination of in-person and online sessions, totaling 72 hours.

The course covered key areas, including an overview of qualitative research, literature review, human research ethics, data collection and analysis, as well as interpretation and reporting. The course participants highly praised the program for its quality and clarity. "Despite the complexity of the material, the course was delivered in an exceptionally accessible and engaging manner," noted Aigul Yessengalieva, Professor at the National Women's Teacher Training University in Almaty.

This initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing the research proficiency of educators in Kazakhstan, fostering academic collaboration, and supporting the development of educational research in the country.
