Project News
Within the framework of the ICEP project “Nurturing Young Minds: Exploring the Role of Positive Early Childhood Education and Care in the Health and Well-being of Young Children in Kazakhstan,” we successfully hosted a webinar on “Quality Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) on December 12, 2024. The event brought together over 30 key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Enlightenment, the National Institute of Early Childhood Education, UNICEF, national ECEC experts, and principals and staff from partner kindergartens.

The webinar focused on critical factors influencing the quality of ECEC, exploring themes such as structural, process, and systemic elements that shape positive outcomes for children’s learning and development. Our partners from the Research in Effective Education in Early Childhood (REEaCh), the University of Melbourne, Professor Patricia Eadie, Director of the REEaCh Centre, and Dr. Penny Levickis, Senior Research Fellow, shared international best practices and research findings, highlighting the pivotal role of educator-child interactions, culturally responsive teaching, and integrated support services. Discussions also addressed the importance of professional learning, flexible regulatory frameworks, and intentional teaching strategies to enhance ECEC quality. This event fostered an in-depth exchange of ideas and collaborative dialogue, contributing valuable insights to the ongoing development of high-quality ECEC practices in Kazakhstan and beyond.
