A recent study by Professor Naureen Durrani, Muhammad Yasir Khan (PhD Candidate, NUGSE), and Professor Mario Novelli (University of Sussex) has been published, titled “The Contradictions of Refugee Inclusion Policy in Education: Teacher and Student Agency in Afghan Refugee Schools During Language Policy and Curriculum Transition in Pakistan.”

The research explores the complexities and contradictions of refugee inclusion policies in education, focusing specifically on Afghan refugee schools in Pakistan. The study examines how language policy and curriculum transitions impact both teacher and student agency, highlighting the challenges and opportunities for educational inclusion during periods of policy change.

This publication provides important insights into how refugee education policies can shape the learning experiences of both teachers and students, offering a critical perspective on the implementation and impact of language and curriculum reforms in refugee contexts.
